Another Year Older!
My birthday weekend has been awesome! Matt had to work yesterday, so we started celebrating a little early on Friday evening. Sunny's family came into town for the weekend because Steve was running a race, and I was excited to have our first official "guests" stay in our home. We had a BBQ with them and Corinne's family on Friday, and I got to open a couple presents. I was super excited when I opened Matt's gift - it was a Silhouette Cameo! Sweet! It will cut paper, fabric, vinyl, etc. and I can't wait to start playing with it. I'm already making a list of things in my head I want to use it for :-)
My day yesterday couldn't have started off any better. Knowing that Matt was going to be working on my birthday, I had signed up to run Color Me Rad. What I didn't know is that we would have Kylee, since we don't typically have her on Saturdays. I had bought Kylee some cute running clothes/shoes a couple months ago and have "practiced" running with Kylee a little bit, but I wasn't sure that she would actually be able to do a race yet, let alone a 5k! I showed her a video of the race and she seemed pretty excited to try it, so we decided to give it a shot. And she did AWESOME! I was seriously so proud of her. She didn't complain at all. She ran quite a bit of the course and walked for a bit when she was "out of breath". I was lucky to have run the race with Brandee's family, and Matt so graciously let Kylee jump into the stroller for a couple stretches of the course.

Kylee absolutely loved getting the color tossed on her, and had fun throwing color at people at the end when she was given a couple color packets. I am thinking we need to make this an annual tradition!

After getting cleaned up, I enjoyed a lovely lunch with Sunny and Corinne at Costa Vida (where else?). It was great catching up with my college roomies.

First Day of Summer
This morning we (I) decided that we just needed to bite the bullet and go buy some dirt (we'd been putting it off since the dirt I wanted was close to $100 a bed). Since it's so late in the year, we decided to just fill one bed and plant the few plants we had. Kylee loved helping by breaking up the dirt, digging the holes for the plants, and watering them once they were in the ground. It might be September before we get tomatoes, but at least that's something!

The Month of May!
I have no idea what happened. How could I neglect my blog for so long? With the exception of a quick video post yesterday afternoon, I let the entire month slip by without a single entry. I feel like such a slacker. Here's a quick overview of my fairly uneventful month in pictures.
Kylee continues to steal my heart every single day. Ignore her messy hair, and instead pay attention to the styling of her little friend's hair... she was so proud of herself!
Jen and I got pedicures followed by an afternoon of shooting... the two can go together, right? :-)
We organized a neighbor hotdog and marshmallow roast in the empty lot next door... we had so much fun! The kids love playing/digging in the dirt.
We were lucky enough to have Kylee on Mother's Day (Kylee will be out of town with her mom on Father's Day, thus the switch). I was super happy because this might be the only Mother's Day I get to spend with Kylee. She and Matt made me a special breakfast and I loved listening to/watching her sing in sacrament meeting - Mother I Love You. Melt my heart. We also made some pretty cute flower pots for my mom and Matt's mom.
Finally, we taught Kylee about Memorial Day, and Matt helped Kylee put some flags in our yard to honor those who have passed before us.
That's pretty much it... here's to a more eventful June!

Signature Line
I spent the last four hours at work reviewing resumes for an RFP that we are about to award. I was laughing at how some people put their degrees in their signature lines. Like John Doe, MBA. I get it if you are a doctor or something, but an MBA? Maybe I should start signing my name as Kimberly Hudson, MBA. No, maybe not. My boss Scott shared this commercial with me that I thought was a nice break on a Friday afternoon!
