Bunny Hops and Egg Hunts

We had such a lovely Easter! Easter was early this year, but we seemed to celebrate for weeks :-)

One of my favorites was how much Tyler loved the Easter egg hunts. My parents had an Easter party for the kiddos a couple of weeks ago, and ever since Tyler has been obsessed with Easter egg hunts. Daily he asks, "Egg hunt, please?" The lucky kiddo got to participate in four different Easter egg hunts (party at my parents' house with cousins, one with my mom's daycare kids, one at a church party, and one at the local Albertsons), in addition to finding eggs here in our house on Easter Sunday. He really had things figured out this year and was a master egg grabber. SUCH a change from last year when he would pick up an egg and want to open it right away. Tyler had things down this year!

We had a little fun with themed food this year too. I made Tyler some bunny pancakes for breakfast on Sunday. He's so stinkin' cute... he doesn't just say "bunny", he calls them "bunny hops". Not sure why, but I think it's adorable. I also made a cheese "ball" as an appetizer for dinner and the kids and I had fun making "bunny hops" brownie stuffed cookie cups.

And these pictures are from a few weeks ago, but I thought since they are pictures of the kids with a lamb, that it was appropriate for me to add them here :-) My friend Jen took care of this lamb at her house for a little while, and both Kylee and Tyler were in love with it!

Bradley - [6 Months]

Bradley is 6 months old! He:

  • is in the 60th percentile for weight (18 pounds) and 95th percentile for height (28").
  • wears a size 3 diaper and is in 6-12 month clothes.
  • has the quickest, easiest smile.
  • kicks his feet and grins when you go to pick him up from his crib after he wakes up.
  • rolls all over the place - he pretty much can go wherever he wants to go.
  • always wants something in his mouth - his hands, our fingers, his toys, my hair, the burp cloth, etc.
  • really likes toys, especially things that light up. He also thinks the wet wipes container is a cool "toy" (the crinkly noisy ones from Costco).
  • can sit on his own, but not for very long. We need to work on this!
  • likes the "spaghetti song", just like his brother did. It calms him right down when he's upset.
  • is getting a little better at sleeping. We've had quite a few nights with him only waking once or twice. Cry it out will be coming soon to try and get him sleeping through the night - not looking forward to that!

Spring Break Vacation

I have been wanting to take a family vacation to Salt Lake for quite some time... and we finally made it a reality earlier this week! Needless to say, this post will have picture overload! Kylee had the week of school for Spring Break, so we headed down to the Salt Lake area Sunday morning.

Our first stop was Bridal Veil Falls. A short walk up a paved trail (with lots of stick collecting!) took us to right to the falls. It was the perfect thing to do after being in the car for over five hours!! And it was so pretty! I can't believe I lived in Provo for four years and never visited Bridal Veil Falls! Matt, Kylee, and Tyler had a blast playing in the water at the base of the falls.

Bridal Veil Falls also checked something off our 101 Places You Gotta See Before You're 12! list. Okay, we technically already did this one a couple years ago, but this was Bradley's first time to a waterfall!

We stayed the night with some friends (thanks Mason and Krista!) and then headed out the next morning to see the "Up" House. It really looked just like the house from the movie Up... and was right in the middle of a regular neighborhood :-)

Our next stop was the Museum of Natural Curiosity. What a cool place! I had heard about this museum over a year ago, and was excited that it had a reciprocal agreement with the Discovery Center of Idaho, so we got in free :-) The highlights were the Rainforest Canopy and Water Works.

After lunch we headed to the Museum of Ancient Life... another museum with a reciprocal agreement, and we could check something else off our 101 Things list. The highlight was the water table and the fact that dad bought the kiddos presents at the gift shop :-)

After the museum, we headed to the hotel in Salt Lake for a little rest before we headed back out that evening to explore Temple Square. The kids also had fun riding the train and seeing the conference center (where General Conference will be held just next week!).

Notice Tyler's dinosaurs that he got from the museum gift shop! He was SO cute playing with them!

We finished the evening with dinner at Tucanos and a swim in the hotel pool. And isn't this just the sweetest thing ever?!

Tuesday morning we woke up to snow! But that was okay because we had planned indoor activities. We first headed to Sweets Candy Factory and were able to mark yet another item off our 101 Things list. We got to see how they make salt water taffy (complete with samples!), gummy bears (in corn starch molds), jelly beans (in old fashioned tumblers), chocolate peanut clusters, and more.

The last stop of our trip was Scheels - a huge sporting goods store with a ferris wheel INSIDE the store! Kylee was excited she was tall enough to go on her own, and thought it was extra cool that she got to stop at the top for a while.

We grabbed lunch at In-N-Out Burgers (for mom and dad) and McDonald's (for the kiddos) and headed home. We sure packed a TON into just a couple of days, but we had an awesome time and the kids did great. Think it's time to start planning our next family adventure :-)

100 Days of School

Last month Kylee celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing like an old lady. We put her hair in a bun and sprayed her hair with white hair spray. She walked around all hunched wearing her glasses and pearls. We both thought she was quite adorable :-)
