McCall Winter Carnival Bust

We were so excited for our little family getaway to McCall. We booked a room at the Ashley Inn a couple months in advance, requested a vacation day with Kylee (we don't normally have her on Fridays and Saturdays), and were all geared up to check out some great ice sculptures at the McCall Winter Carnival. Unfortunately, the Winter Carnival itself was kind of a bust. It had been warmer and rainy, and it was difficult to tell what most of the ice sculptures had been a week earlier when they had been carved. This was one of the ones that kind of still looked how it was supposed to look (it was a boat). Lucky for us, Kylee still thought they were cool, even if you couldn't tell what they were.

No worries, though. The trip itself wasn't a bust! We had a lot of fun everywhere besides the carnival. The Ashley Inn was great - the room was cute, there was an indoor swimming pool (which Kylee loved), the staff was really great and even gave our kiddos glow bracelets, there were warm cookies and milk before bed, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best. We also had a fun dinner at a little pizza place in Cascade, where Kylee and Matt played air hockey. And the drive up and back were lovely.

So not quite the weekend we were expecting, but still fun to get away nonetheless.

Valentines Decor

When I was uploading pictures for Tyler's 15 month blog post, I realized that I got behind again in my blogging! I wanted to quickly share a few of our Valentine decor projects:

Jen and I made these Valentines bubble wreaths and I just love how they turned out. The directions called for red burlap, but I chose to do pink because I have a red door :-)

Kylee helped me with these last couple projects... super quick, super easy, and added a little extra love to our house over the last month!

Tyler - 15 Months

This little guy is growing so fast! He:

  • finally decided that walking is more fun than crawling. He's quite good at it too! Only one face plant so far...
  • can open and close pocket doors with ease (and thinks it's a fun game). So much for keeping the bathroom door closed.
  • has a sixth tooth that is just barely popping through.
  • got a "big boy" haircut this last month and we love it! Oh, and have I mentioned that Tyler thinks suckers are fantastic?
  • amazes me with the foods he'll eat - he even likes spicy foods.
  • still loves reading (I love this!) and has the cutest fake laugh.
  • is showing he's got a cute imagination. He will find cups or dishes from the toy kitchen and "pretend" to eat or drink. My favorite part is when he smacks his lips when he's done "eating". He also likes to offer us pretend food!
  • is quite a stinker - take this photo for example where he thought our bathtub would make a great washing machine (he did this while I was in the shower).
  • has a soft blanket that he loves... when I lay him in his crib, he reaches his arms up as I grab his blanket and put it over him. He grabs onto the top of the blanket and pulls it up to his face and does a little laugh or coo.
  • loves looking at pictures and watching videos of our family.
  • loves playing outside, especially at the park... but hates when it's time to go back inside, so be ready for a fight!
  • thinks men are cooler than women. Any man. He wants grandpa over grandma, Uncle BJ or Uncle TJ over me, and reaches his arms out to any man he sees at church or even the stranger sitting next to us in a restaurant.
  • likes to dance when he hears music.
