Spring Break Vacation

I have been wanting to take a family vacation to Salt Lake for quite some time... and we finally made it a reality earlier this week! Needless to say, this post will have picture overload! Kylee had the week of school for Spring Break, so we headed down to the Salt Lake area Sunday morning.

Our first stop was Bridal Veil Falls. A short walk up a paved trail (with lots of stick collecting!) took us to right to the falls. It was the perfect thing to do after being in the car for over five hours!! And it was so pretty! I can't believe I lived in Provo for four years and never visited Bridal Veil Falls! Matt, Kylee, and Tyler had a blast playing in the water at the base of the falls.

Bridal Veil Falls also checked something off our 101 Places You Gotta See Before You're 12! list. Okay, we technically already did this one a couple years ago, but this was Bradley's first time to a waterfall!

We stayed the night with some friends (thanks Mason and Krista!) and then headed out the next morning to see the "Up" House. It really looked just like the house from the movie Up... and was right in the middle of a regular neighborhood :-)

Our next stop was the Museum of Natural Curiosity. What a cool place! I had heard about this museum over a year ago, and was excited that it had a reciprocal agreement with the Discovery Center of Idaho, so we got in free :-) The highlights were the Rainforest Canopy and Water Works.

After lunch we headed to the Museum of Ancient Life... another museum with a reciprocal agreement, and we could check something else off our 101 Things list. The highlight was the water table and the fact that dad bought the kiddos presents at the gift shop :-)

After the museum, we headed to the hotel in Salt Lake for a little rest before we headed back out that evening to explore Temple Square. The kids also had fun riding the train and seeing the conference center (where General Conference will be held just next week!).

Notice Tyler's dinosaurs that he got from the museum gift shop! He was SO cute playing with them!

We finished the evening with dinner at Tucanos and a swim in the hotel pool. And isn't this just the sweetest thing ever?!

Tuesday morning we woke up to snow! But that was okay because we had planned indoor activities. We first headed to Sweets Candy Factory and were able to mark yet another item off our 101 Things list. We got to see how they make salt water taffy (complete with samples!), gummy bears (in corn starch molds), jelly beans (in old fashioned tumblers), chocolate peanut clusters, and more.

The last stop of our trip was Scheels - a huge sporting goods store with a ferris wheel INSIDE the store! Kylee was excited she was tall enough to go on her own, and thought it was extra cool that she got to stop at the top for a while.

We grabbed lunch at In-N-Out Burgers (for mom and dad) and McDonald's (for the kiddos) and headed home. We sure packed a TON into just a couple of days, but we had an awesome time and the kids did great. Think it's time to start planning our next family adventure :-)
