We were so excited for our little family getaway to McCall. We booked a room at the Ashley Inn a couple months in advance, requested a vacation day with Kylee (we don't normally have her on Fridays and Saturdays), and were all geared up to check out some great ice sculptures at the McCall Winter Carnival. Unfortunately, the Winter Carnival itself was kind of a bust. It had been warmer and rainy, and it was difficult to tell what most of the ice sculptures had been a week earlier when they had been carved. This was one of the ones that
kind of still looked how it was supposed to look (it was a boat). Lucky for us, Kylee still thought they were cool, even if you couldn't tell what they were.
No worries, though. The trip itself wasn't a bust! We had a lot of fun everywhere besides the carnival. The Ashley Inn was great - the room was cute, there was an indoor swimming pool (which Kylee loved), the staff was really great and even gave our kiddos glow bracelets, there were warm cookies and milk before bed, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best. We also had a fun dinner at a little pizza place in Cascade, where Kylee and Matt played air hockey. And the drive up and back were lovely.
So not quite the weekend we were expecting, but still fun to get away nonetheless.
